How we describe a jacket

Leather, construction, fit, care and delivery, stated plainly. Where a detail is not confirmed yet, this demo says [to confirm] instead of guessing.

Leather

Our leather jackets are cut from full-grain lambskin or cowhide. Full-grain is the top layer of the hide with its natural grain left in place: it is not sanded away or covered with an embossed finish. Grain, small marks and shade variation are part of the material.

  • Lambskin is lighter and softer.
  • Cowhide is heavier and firmer, and takes longer to soften.

The Shearling has a suede outer with a shearling collar and lining. Each product page names the leather. Thickness and finish are [to confirm] and appear in every specification table.

Construction

Every product page lists the build in the same table: thickness, finish, lining, hardware and weight. In this demo those values are [to confirm]. Stitch density and thread are also [to confirm].

When you inspect any leather jacket, look at five things.

  • Seams that run straight, with even stitch length.
  • Zips that run smoothly along their full length.
  • Snaps and buckles that close firmly.
  • A lining that is stitched in, not glued.
  • Panels cut so the grain runs in the same direction.

Fit

Sizes are AU sizes: XS is AU 34 and XXL is AU 44. We list garment measurements in cm for every size, so you can compare them with a jacket you already own. Model is 183 cm and wears size M.

Measuring your chest. Stand relaxed with your arms at your sides. Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades, keeping the tape level.

Between sizes. Leather does not stretch like fabric. If you plan to wear a knit underneath, choose the larger size.

Every product page has a size finder. Enter your height, chest and preferred fit and it recommends a size from this chart.

Care and repairs

Breaking in. Leather softens and shapes to you with wear, and cowhide takes longer than lambskin. Typical break-in time is [to confirm].

Everyday. Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Hang the jacket on a wide-shouldered hanger and store it in a breathable cover, not plastic.

Conditioning. Condition once or twice a year with a conditioner suited to the finish. Test it on a hidden area first.

If it gets wet. Blot with a towel and dry it naturally away from heat. Heat dries leather out and can crack it.

Suede and shearling. Brush with a suede brush, use a protector spray and keep the jacket away from water.

Repairs. Repair terms are [to confirm].

Delivery and returns

Delivery. Jackets ship from Melbourne in 2 to 3 weeks. The arrival window on each product page counts 14 to 21 days from today. Standard delivery is free over $400 and $15 below that. Express is +$25 (a placeholder, with timing [to confirm]).

Prices. All prices are in AUD and include GST.

Returns

You can return a jacket within 30 days if it is unworn. The return process and refund timing are [to confirm]. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply as well.
